Welcome to The B-Sides

The A-side is the playlist. The B-side is everything that made it matter.

It’s the reason one song had to come before another. It’s the argument you’re still willing to have about which era of your favourite pop diva was actually her best. It’s the memory of driving somewhere you can barely remember now, then hearing a song that puts you right back in the passenger seat. Music has a way of keeping the details we thought we’d lost.

That’s what crgrsbckr is here for: pop music, playlist stories, new releases, deep cuts, and the culture that surrounds them. Consider this a place to discover a track you missed, revisit an album you played to death, and give an overlooked song the attention it deserved all along. There will be opinions. Some of them might even be reasonable.

In New Releases, we’ll follow the songs, albums, and music videos landing now. Expect fresh pop music discoveries, first impressions, and closer looks at releases worth spending time with. A new track doesn’t have to be a masterpiece to be interesting, and a catchy chorus is allowed to be a very good reason to press play again.

Diva Files is for the icons. We’ll revisit defining performances, music videos, album eras, reinventions, and the choices that made certain artists impossible to ignore. Which album changed everything? Which comeback was better than people gave it credit for? Which era had the best looks, the best singles, and the best attitude? If you’ve ever defended a pop star’s supposedly “lesser” album like it was a member of your family, you’re in the right place.

Then there’s Deep Cuts, home to the album tracks, B-sides, forgotten singles, and overlooked pop songs that deserved more. Every music fan has one: the track buried halfway through an album that should have been a single, or the song you’re still introducing to friends years later. This is where those recommendations get their moment.

Pop Culture looks beyond the track itself. Music lives alongside fashion, film, nightlife, internet moments, live performances, and the conversations we have with each other. A music video can define an aesthetic. A concert can turn strangers into friends for a night. One line from a song can become the caption everyone borrows. We’ll talk about those connections and why they stick.

And in Playlist Stories, we get to the heart of the crate. A great playlist does more than collect songs with a similar sound. It can tell the story of a summer, a breakup, a friendship, a night out, or the version of yourself you were becoming at the time. We’ll get into the songs behind those stories, the logic behind the track order, and the wonderfully specific memories a playlist can bring back. Sometimes the transition between two songs says as much as either song on its own.

Whether you’re here for pop music reviews, new artists to explore, nostalgic favourites, diva debates, or songs that never got their flowers, pull up a chair. There’s room for the person who knows every album credit and the person who simply heard something brilliant on the way home and wants to know what it was.

The first proper post is coming soon. Until then, the crate is open. Have a look at what’s playing, follow a song wherever it takes you, and come back when you’re ready for the story behind it.

No skips.
